Affordable Foods A Community Shop & Social Lounge in Gainsborough

Affordable Foods
A Community Shop & Social Lounge in Gainsborough

For the last five years, supported by National Lottery Reaching Communities funding we have been supporting the local community by taking surplus and locally grown foods and making them available to those most in need. Our social lounge has supported over 500b unique beneficiaries undertaking various activities including arts & crafts, bingo, table tennis, film nights, support groups and much more.

This project has now closed, and we are working on the final evaluation and learning which will be displayed here. However, at this time we would like to pay tribute to Tim Davies who sadly passed away. Tim was a huge local personality and the current Mayor, he volunteered at and supported the project from its inception and will be sadly missed by all. His wife, Caz, was an employee at the project and we would like to place on record our thanks to them for their commitment over the years.

Supported by Eudaimonia and funded by Feeding Britain and Morrisons Foundation, Local Meals Made With Love seeks to feed the community better through utilising local foods and resources to make affordable healthy meal options available to all.

LMMWL uses surplus and foods from local gleaners and growers to produce meals in partnership with schools, community caterers and local volunteers that are sold via community fridges and freezers in school libraries or lobbies. Each project is led by local community volunteers who receive support and access to industry standard training to improve skills, confidence and future employment opportunities.
